Deployed!

Man I am gonna be honest with you. You are not being a pussy about this. In fact a retired general said something once that should get the point across.

"True courage is being afraid, and going ahead and doing your job."-Lieutenant General Norman Schwarzkopf ,U.S. Army, Retired.

Dude, just pay attention, that's the fucking key. As a Vet, of Iraq (part 1), I can tell you just fucking pay attention. I know you'll be tired, sore, hungry, and always drinking water, and working long hours, and things could get crazy, but pay attention, and you'll be much better off. I'm being serious as hell, not the usual joking shit. Seriously. Most people get problems by lack of attention in war, even in the back lines, maybe especially the back lines. I hope for the best. Good luck. :)

*ahem*

I hope to come back and be able to play with my dogs, and my horney wife xD

And ya, I've noticed that most of the problems come from lack of attention. I think the most dangerous part of it now though is that even though you may see the IED, EFP or whatever, you dont always have any option other then to just press forward and hope to god or whatever it is that keeps you going.

Ya though, attention to detail.

My nephew is in the Army and he is currently in Afghanistan. He has had two other tours in Iraq.

Take care and do the best you can. I will never truly know the stress you are currently under or fixing to face, but I do hope that the Military changes soon to help all soldiers with these issues in a better way. I think they've been dropping the ball in that arena.

That's the Army for you. Luckily, in the Air Force each member has his own butler, and each butler is a trained therapist. I hear that if the Butler gets injured, the maids are natural nurturers and also serve as decent therapists when needed.

Yeah Mega it's natural to be scared. Lots of people would shit their pants at lesser things. At least they're giving you training and not just throwing you in.

As far as advice for dealing with everyday life: Relax, meditate, get a hobby, read, don't dwell on the fact that you in B.F.E.

Combat: Train until you can't stand the word training, then train some more. Train every aspect and you will give yourself some peace of mind. Be smart about things, not paranoid.

The good news is that the "terroriZers" are much more afraid of us than we are of them. So if you end up in a fire fight it'll be something like a hit a run. And as far as mortars go, if you get hit you'll be obliterated most likely or the damage will be so severe thatyou won't be able to realize you were just jacked up. In other news if you were a Marine you'd be pretty much already trained for the stress levels and would only need a little predeployment workup. Oorah
