Recently started dating a guy who broke up with a boyfriend around 2 months ago. He's had both an HIV antibody test and a PCR DNA test. Both negative. The result of the HIV antibody test I don't love, seeing as he took it only a couple weeks after breaking up with his ex. I was wondering if anyone could tell me whether negative PCR results are 100% accurate? I've read more about a rather high number of false positives, but not much mention of false negatives.
(If possible--anyone know the specificity / sensitivity of PCRs?)
Informed answers only please! Thanks!
