Denim shorts, appropriate for an art exhibit?

It is a casual event, but the place it is in is known as a "rich kid" residence area. I've never been there though. I was thinking of wearing some nice strapy gladiators high waisted denim shorts and a nice top. What do you think?

Or should I just go with jeans?

I think anything you wear would be fine even if it is a "rich kid" area as long as you don't parade in just a bikini or something just as well trashy. If the event is held outside, it would probably be better to wear the shorts and a nice top (though layered tanks and tees would suffice), but if it's held inside, go with the jeans.


Better yet, just wear whatever you feel comfortable in. It's an art exhibit not a gala dinner, and chances are the no one will really be wearing fancy dresses and suits. Just have fun! =]

but the denim part is bad.. cuz its an art show... though its casual.. denim in my opinion is a no
try a high waisted skirt or dress pants ?
