Demoralized

Well shit, I'm just down on myself.

I feel like I'm going to be wasting my time this semester at college. I'm taking three classes where I'm willing to bet I'll spend 80% of the time doing work I am already familiar with. English Composition (I took AP English Comp in high school, which is supposed to fulfill this requirement. Due to stupid inconsistencies in how AP credits are treated at different schools, I end up having to take it anyways.), Spanish 1 (I took two years of Spanish in high school, I know how to conjugate verbs in four tenses, I doubt I'll learn any more tenses in this class... although I may increase my vocab), and Journalism Skills 1 (I took two years of Journalism and was Editor-in-Chief in high school, not that I know everything but I bet I know the basics we will cover in this class).

The only class I know will not be a waste of my time is statistics, because I don't know statistics (I have a rough knowledge).

My personal life isn't looking much better either. Here is a list of people who have not called me back for too long.

My romantic interest (we talked briefly online and it was awkward... she just started her senior year though so I kind of understand, but I haven't heard a single word from her)
My friend Mariya
My mechanic (I'm not personally hurt by this, but I do need him to work on my car)
My supervisor at work (I should have gotten a status update on my application for promotion, two days ago... not to mention the portfolio I turned in to you that you said you'd contact me about three days ago)
My former teacher (who I really connected with and who I used to call all the time... this guy is the biggest father figure I've ever had)

I normally don't stress stuff like this but shit, all at once it's demoralizing!

My two best friends from Southern California are coming to visit me soon. These guys have been brothers to me for four years, and I just moved 400 miles away from them about three months ago. But, they're only going to be here for two days and on those two days, I have school and work from 8am to 5pm, and they can't come up any other time, due to school and work.

I may be just overly negative right now but these are all recent developments that have got me bummed!

You need a :hug2: :cookie:

Ok seriously, That all kind of sucks when it happens at once. As far as your mechanice, call him yourself if you want an update. It's irritating when they don't call, but it's up to you to find out the info yourself.

As far as everyone else. Give them a day or two more adn give them another call. People get busy. I know it hurts when you really need their support and conversation, but sometimes they too need a little room for error. I hope you get to talk to your teacher. He sounds like a good guy to you.

As far as your friends. At least you'll have the night time with them. It's a sucky time, so enjoy the time you got. It's wonderful they got the chance to visit you. Even though it's a short amount of time, there is still stuff you can do. I hope you guys make the best of it.

I know what you mean about it all happening at once. I'll just say I'm sorry to hear that. I hope it starts to ease up soon! :)

Nothing sucks more than repetition. It'll definitely be boring, but at least you don't have to shit yourself doing research since you'll probably know all of it. I can't give any advice since I've never been in the situation, but good luck man.

I agree. Icky, watch the music video for Agenda Suicide, by The Faint, maybe you can relate. Music saves my life on a daily basis.

You know what I do when I'm suffering from a existential funk? I pound 2 shots of Johnny Walker Red, punch my arm, and set up another round until I can't comprehend words.

Probably not healthy.

That's what she said. OMG LMAO ISOL337

Anyways, I wouldn't worry about it dude. College classes seem to be so much better than High school classes that even if you do know the basics you'll only be bored with the class for probably another month before it really starts making you think and try. If you think the spanish 1 class is too eas y for you then go up to spanish 2. You can test out of it here. Personally I had 1 year of spanish with the worst spanish teacher on earth, I maybe learned 50 words from him, and I'm taking spanish 2.

As for your girl, you might care about her, but if it ends up not working out then you will have plenty of girls to keep you company once your single in the wonderland of college. With your other friend not calling you, just keep trying to keep in contact. Every once in a while send them an email saying, hey, whatchya been up to, give me a call sometime, and they will call you when they are ready. It'll only get better from here bud.
