Never mind the relative odds of who would win in a contest between Obama and Gingrich right now -- a lot could happen between now and november 2012.
I'm just old enough to remember how in 1979/1980 people on the left (and some in the center plus a few on the right) thought that Ronald Reagan was a nutty extremist who could never be taken seriously as a presidential candidate. But he won the GOP nomination (not to mention two terms in office.)
Is Gingrich any less plausible today than Reagan was back then? Do you think he could win the GOP nomination? or defeat a generic Democrat in a general election?
