do you know of any other times where the start date of a TV show has been pushed forward or back

Don't know about start dates but the TV critic of the Daily Mirror famously predicted Coronation Street would only last six weeks

The first season of 24 was delayed by a month (from October to November 2001) due to the September 11 attacks and the first episode was edited to remove a shot of an aeroplane exploding.

Glad this thread has come up. My oldie memory kicked in from something I wrote in 'Sitcom to be revived' thread this morning.' I remember the big up for a new version of Love Thy Neighbour to star the attrocious Derek Laud (from Big Brother 6 in 2005.) I vaguely think I did see a scrap of the show somewhere on TV, but since then nothing. Oh dear, that crap huh!

It first aired on October 29th 1979, five days after the strike ended. I think it was due to be shown in the new Autumn schedules, starting early September, as you rightly said.
