I was recently reading an article about dehydration and how you can often feel very tired, forgetful, achy, and have mood issues from it. I've been feeling a lot of fatigue for some time and I'm wondering if this can be a possibility. I notice lately that I haven't been having as much water as I should every day, because some days I get so wrapped up trying to finish up work that I hardly get a chance to get up from my desk!
I get thirsty pretty often (especially in the summer) and try to always keep a bottle or glass of water nearby. I typically do feel like I drink enough of it, yet I'm often still a bit thirsty. I don't have any known health issues. I have had blood work recently. I try to limit my sodium intake, although I'm sure I still probably have more than a person who would eat completely natural. I do try to eat a lot of fresh, non-processed foods and do not go out to eat often, but I have my occasions.
I have to urinate pretty often. I feel like if I drink more water, I'll be in the restroom a little TOO much! Because of this, I don't feel like I'm lacking with water drinking.
In the article, it mentioned that artificial sweeteners and allergy medications can make you more dehydrated. I do take allergy medication (Claritin D- although I have not taken it for at least a week, but sometimes take it regularly- I do need it right now b/c my sinuses are bothering me quite a lot) and occasionally treat myself to a diet soda or sugar free gum. I do typically start off my day with a bottled water and a packet of crystal light energy. I feel like it really helps me get going, and it's a good alternative to coffee because I've been whitening my teeth and don't want to ruin that.
Could a packet of crystal light a day really be making me feel like this? I really, really enjoy it and honestly would be very disappointed if I could never have it again. I usually drink plain water without anything in it. I occasionally might have a diet soda, but I have it less than once per day, and usually it's Sprite Zero these days.
I've been struggling to stay awake at times and get forgetful and dizzy because of it. I do not always get 8 hours of sleep, but I usually get 6 1/2 - 7 hours on work nights, so I wouldn't think I'd be THIS tired because of it... I would think I'd have to get much sleep to be feeling how I do. It seems like it could be a combination of that plus something else? I'd appreciate any advice on if dehydration could actually be a possibility. Thanks
