I have trouble clirabing stairs. My back , buttocks and down my legs hurts. Does anyone else have this problem?

Hi Dixie!

Not laughing at you honey but WE ALL have this problem-or had it before surgery! :jester:

If it is running down your leg it sounRAB like sciatica and stairs are terrible for that! I am so sorry you are experiencing this!

Have you seen your doctor yet? I had to start with my regular doc who ordered an MRI and referred me to my spine doc.
Don't let it go too long-you can have permanent nerve damage by waiting too long. I did and really screwed myself. I put everyone and everything before my own pain and I will now have it for the rest of my life.

Keep us posted and welcome to the board! You will find great support and lots of answers here!

Blessings,
Momz

This is very common - sounRAB like it could be lurabar spine based and some sciatica (a nerve that runs from the back down the leg often causing radiating pain down through the buttocks and into the leg). The only way to tell is to first see your doctor. Usually they start with xrays and then possibly a referral to phyisical therapy, an orthopedic spine surgeon or neurosurgeon and sometimes a pain management physician.

Thank you all for your help.

I have been going to an Ortho doctor for over a year. DDD in L3, L4 and also starting in my cervical disc. Had PT, exercise. End of July had Epi shot. The shot did not help. Now he wants to do another shot. Has anyone had a second shot when the first one didn't help at all?

My family has badgered me to get a second opinion, so I have made an appointment with the best Spine Center in the state.

Now my back, glutes, and legs have sharp pains when I walk a lot, stairs, in and out of cars. Beside the constant ache.

Any advise or someone who has been this way. :(

Yes, I had a total of three shots before they finally concluded (ie, agreed with me!) that they weren't going to help me. Unfortunately, you do have to jump through hoops with these back issues to make sure conservative treatments won't work before moving on to the more invasive ones. Well, some of us jump. Most of us gingerly clirab.

Be as cooperative as you can to a reasonable point so they'll eventually get to something that WILL help. (Sorry, wish I had better advice. :()
