Defogging prescription athletic goggles (sport glasses steaming up)?

My son is in his first year of football. He needs glasses to see well. Due to safety concerns he cannot wear his regular glasses in his helmet. We got him prescription athletic goggles but he can't use them due to them fogging up on the inside. He needs the goggles to improve his playing skills. He is missing parts of the game since he can't see.

The goggles are pretty standard sports type with foam surrounding the frame where it touches the face and foam nose pieces. There are air vents on the side of the foam but they just don't seem to work well enough with the goggles pressed down on his skin. The goggles fog up within a few minutes and become useless.

We need a solution to prevent the fog or get rid of it. I can't modify the glasses (by removing foam or drilling air holes in the edges of the lenses) because they are returnable to the store if we are not completely happy. The store says the fogging up is a standard problem so another pair isn't going to fix it or fit in our budget.

The lenses are plastic so I want to be careful about any chemicals. PLEASE only suggest things you know will work from personal experience or observation.

Thank you.
