At least he hasn't choked on a pretzel like Jesus 2.0 that all of you seem to worship

I hope you live by that philosophy and do not own anything that requires oil to be manufactured and transported.

and you say that because...........we didn't get attacked? I guess his policies kept me safe from attack by green lions, too, because none have come after me!!

Everyone needs to stand up and give Alex credit for this. He said it a couple weeks ago even though the intent of his comparison is not quite the same as Obama's.

edit: couple weeks = 4 days

Thanks BP/Transocean/etc etc. I enjoy the oil on our gulf coast beaches! Gives it character.

the way to prevent it from happening again is to hold the company/people who did it this time accountable. the articles I read said the "accident" happened because they were not using current safety techniques and equipment, and if they had been, it wouldn't have happened. so let's start there and ask why they weren't "up to code" for lack of a better phrase.

wasn't weeks, but nonetheless Alex called it. In fact, it's probably one of his best posts. I believe Obama will do for "energy" what Bush 2 did for "security". In other words, we're now fucked in entirely new and different way. If you think taking your shoes off at the airport is inconvenient, try using an electric lawnmower.

the difference between this and 9/11 is that obama's approval rating probably isn't going to skyrocket anytime soon, like what happened with bush.

I agree. I was commenting more on your "delivery" than the message. That's at least the 2nd time today you used that same format.

As long as the politics stays out of the future legislation we'll be ok. If Obama get's his way he'll push his liberal agenda through under the disguise of oil well safety.

IMO obamas approval rating would be higher if he did what he's doing now 4 weeks ago.

Obama's leadership style so far has been to delegate authority and step back and let people do what their supposed to do. In some instances it works. But in some cases (like this one) people want to SEE their leader having a more hands on approach (visiting the site more often, engaged with people in charge on the ground, etc. altho I'm sure if he had people would complain that he's underfoot and too much of a distraction).

He certainly blew this opportunity to at least appear in control. At this point he's just playing catch up and thats not good enough.
