what up

I recently had my Curve 8320 stolen and I was crushed! I called it in and shut it down. Went in the next day to activate an old POS nokia until I'm ready to grab another phone. While I was there I was looking at all the new stuff. I saw the new flip pearl but just did not care for it. I asked them about any future BBs and they did not sound too confident that there would be any for T-mo. So I checked out the G1 and was really WOW'ed!

So here is what I think I'm looking at.
1. Just go in next month and grab another curve
2. Consider grabbing the G1 which did seem very cool......but not a BB
3. Pay the early termination and go with someone that has the Bold or Storm
4. suck it up for another 9 months (gulp) and wait till the end of my contract and see whats out there.

What would you guys do??

I got to play with the G1 this weekend, and I am seriously thinking about switching. I've said this in other threads, but imo RIM dropped the ball not releasing a BB w/ 3G on tmo, and the only touchscreen bb goes to vzw?? lame!! I am big proponent to BB, but i'm disappointed with this series of new bb's. there's just so much you can do with android and the phone itself, it's touchscreen, gps, 3G, 3mp camera, etc etc etc.
the only thing i did not like was the chin that gets in the way when typing with the keyboard, but like any phone there's little things you just have to get accustomed to.

Ok, here is my take on it from personal experience. I have been an 8100 user for 2 years. I got my G1 a week ago and I love it!!!......... but it has some very handicapping features and functionality that will cause any longtime BB user to be on the verge of a seizure. I am probably going to add a line today and use both phones because I just can't lose the solid reliability of my berry.

What I like about the G1very quick, obvious step up in processorwaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better browsing experiencesolid feel responsive touch screenit is much more functional for any program that is browser or internet related
What I like better about my berryemail is better hands down, more reliable. more functionaladdress book is more extensive ie-in the g1 you can't add pauses and extensions to a phone numberthe g1 is horrifying to use 1 handed if you need to type anything due to the lack of touch keyboardsome of my berry apps like twitter make on the go funcion easier due to their simplicitywhile the G1 is sleek and amazing it is obviously still an infant and its function is sadly lacking for the business anglethe pop email function on the G1 flat out sucks
so the G1 is great but it is better as a personal toy than a business tool unless of course it is paired with a Berry!

If you are not sure what to do I suggest you hit CraigsList. With a little work you can get a nice 8320 for about $200 (or an 8100 for $100 or less) to tide you over and save your phone upgrade for later.

Are you eligible for an early upgrade? see bout gettin another BB online, get insurance.. Nine months n counting.. Will go by fast! If not weigh your options n figure out cost.. Would you save money putting that acct on the lowest phone pkg, ride the contract out... Hand it off to a relative or friend while you go with another provider for a new BB? Or would you save money canceling and goin with another provider.. Factor cost of price for new BB if you get new service also.. Cuz you'd be frontin cash for both the cancelation activativation of new service plus difference in cost for new BB..you should also call customer service sales and look at other service providers online deals.. Could save money gettin phone that way also..~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~

I have a Curve and me and my man went and checked out the Flip. He like it, but not really for me. I had a pearl and I like my Curve better. Now when the TMO rep asked is we wanted to see the G1, my man and I laughed and said "no, not a Blackberry then we are not interested" LOL. Things can have cool new stuff but nothing is as trustworthy as a BB. It would be cheaper to get another Curve off of craigslist and wait it out. By the time you are up for renewal you will have a better idea what is actually out and how you feel about it.

all of which will be addressed in future updates of android and apps....however the one-handed typing is what it is, typing one-handed on a curve is a bit of a trick also with such small buttons. so it's 6 one way, half dozen the other.
