Wal-mart has the HP Garden Dreams (14.5" display) at about $600. I have never owned a mac, and the most basic one is $999. I'm not sure how worth it it really is to get. After all the extra expenses, I'm looking at about $1600. I want a small, yet very functional laptop for everyday use.
