Debating team needs your help: What constitutes as a right decision?

right? Factually, aesthetically ( those pant really don't go with that shirt), culturally ( that is right in terms of protocol or etiquette), pragmatically ( not just what we should to in the abstract but given our real world resources, limitations, for the best outcome, etc.), The right answer often depends on your goals.

There are 2 things to consider. There is the right thing to do and a good thing to do.

The right thing to do is award the position to the person who most suits the requirements.
The good thing to do is to give it to someone who couldn't otherwise get a chance.

It wasnt a good desission to nuke Japan but it was the right thing to do.

I think you are asking for additional factors in to consider in deciding what is "right."

You could also consider what is:
Logical, fair, charitable, constitutional, traditional, philosophical, spiritual, karmic, ecologically beneficial, creative, friendly, courteous, kind, brave, thrifty, reverent, helpful, faithful, clean, trustworthy, loyal, obedient, and cheerful.
