debating btwn 2 condos?

the first choice($900) is a beautiful two bedroom, one bath on the second floor in an ok neighborhood, 40 min drive to work. Stainless steel kitchen, very modern, all brand new appliances, one floor; marble counters, lots of cupboards in kitchen; basically a kitchen to die for.
2nd choice($1000) is in a very expensive neighborhood, full finished basement, very small kitchen but brand new appliances, 27 minutes to work, nice scenery, 1/2 mile from downtown which is gorgeous, 2 bedrooms upstairs and 1 bath. large living room and dinning room ok. What would you pick? Anyone
 
13 mins times two, times 5 means an extra 2 hours in car per week. What are association fees at each place? Knock on a few doors in each place, ask how log they've been there and how they like it.
 
Your first answer has a good point re time driving...personally I am not in love with stainless kitchens,they look great when they are spotless but most people I know wish they never bought stainless.....they show every finger print etc...YOUR CALL....BUT...I think I'd go for what you call #2....Thats my #1..Good Luck!!!
