my husband gave me the choice to get whatever dog i want to get and i'm debating between a labrador or a doberman, any help would be great, or if you can think of any other kind of puppy i'm open to suggestions i just don't wanna get a little dog, i'm not a little dog person at all!!

Well it depends on what you want the dog for. Either will be a great companion and guarddog. By guard dog I mean a dog that will alert you. You are going to have to do your own research and make your decision on your own though. I would lean towards the dobie myself. I have always enjoyed the more independent breeds myself. Dobies are very strong minded but superb with the handlers. Labs are very much the same but rely on human direction too much for me. The best I can say is again, do ALOT of research and make your own call. Your gut doesnt lie. Depending on if you have raised a dog before or not and (#1) your personality (can you make a dog understand his role in the household) , you may or may not want to get a dominant breed. Im sure Ive not helped you a whole lot because it keeps going back to YOU. Just make a decision you are comfortable with and you will have no regrets. Best of luck with the little one!

Lab! They are the best dog breed. They are very loyal and they love to please you. They are very smart and eager to learn.
The Labrador Retriever is medium in size, strong, athletic, and well balanced. They are friendly, outgoing, and possess an extremely sweet personality. There are two types of Labrador: The American, which is tall and lanky, and the English, which is more thick and heavy. This sporting breed is adept at hunting and retrieving. Labrador Retrievers are revered as companions and highly respected for their loving nature.
This breed is highly intelligent, loyal, and deeply devoted. The Labrador Retriever is reliable, affectionate, and thrive on human companionship and attention. They are absolutely wonderful with children and get along exceedingly well with other dogs. They may be reserved with strangers and make good watchdogs.
