Is it healthy for one party tro dominate the political landscape of a nation or unhealthy? My team's stance is that it is unhealthy. Any ideas?
edit: Sorry, I worded the question inaccurately, the debate is whether or not it is healthy for one party to constantly win elections in a country? Once again, my stance is unhealthy

Is it healthy for power to go to those who cannot successfully argue that they deserve it?

As far as debate is concerned, surely you are aware that the majority of the nation's airwaves are filled with right wing propaganda. If it is insufficient to convince anyone to vote their candidates into office, then they truly do not deserve to be in power. ∠°)

I agree with you, in fact a lot of the time I think 2 parties is not enough.

But the Republicans were the ones with the explicit plan to make the US a one-party system. Democrats, when they are in control, always strive for bipartisan cooperation, as Obama has. Republicans see it in their best interest never to cooperate with Democrats.

Also Republicans, even in the minority, do a better job of keeping a Democratic president honest and accountable. The Bush administration was completely out of control. Even with small Democratic majorities in Congress, the Democrats weren't able to rein Bush in.

The real problem is that both parties are really the same party. Money has become so important in politics that we no longer have elections, we have -auctions-. And since both parties get their money from the same sources, you can't expect their agendas to be all that much different.
