Thanks for ur replies!!

To EnigmaticAng:

>>you're right about the text not disappearing, however - you DO get a "message sent successfully" (or something like that; i get german text), or a loud, annoying "beep!" if it wasn't, so that's hardly an excuse for sending the same message twice.

How about having to delete the typed text?

>>you're wrong here - my good old 3310 does support shortcut keys.

I presume this model uses the layered menu of 1.1, 2.5.4 and so on? Yes the old s/w does have this feature. the latest 30/40 series no more.

To starkisttuna

Why make you say so?

>>After the countless models of cell phones that Nokia has produced they have managed to keep a consistent, straight-foward, and easily navigated menu throughout all the phones. If you have owned a Nokia cell phone before chances are that you'll feel very accustomed to using the newer models.

For this, I agree. it's the s/w consistency that makes changing models easy. It also port those annoying features continously.

well, we ARE talking about typing a message on a phone.

you'll need to press a key at least once to get the letter you want. to spell, say, " hello ", you need to press 4 twice, 3 twice, 5 three times, again 5 three times, and finally 6 3 times. (not using T9, because i really hate the thing ;) )
that's 13 keypresses for one single word.

nevermind another four! (menu-up-up-ok) :p

guess u are quite right on this. Nokia MMI is good at processing things in the back while still allow user to operate the menu.

Which Nokia does not support shortcut keys?
Every one does. Even the S30, S40 ones do, though not sure about S60.

And what's so annoying about the Message options, typing and deleting?
EnigmaticAngel if you don't like to punch in so many keys you should get yourself the Nokia 6820 (no complains, it's got everything right from BT to CIF cam, and even SyncML)

EnigmaticAngel, thanks a lot. Now I can get Logos without any provider charges.

Thanks again

i didn't say i don't like punching keys! ;)

in fact, i hardly ever send SMS anyway, because just calling someone (or better yet, having someone call me) is way less expensive. :p

i was just pointing out that IF you type a message, having to delete the previous text by pressing another 4 keys hardly matters anyway.
therefore, i don't consider having to delete the text "non-user-friendly". but that's me. ;)

thanks for the tip, though - if i ever decide to get a new phone, i'll try to remember! ;)

Yes, even I got to agree on this. My c100 menu response times are so bad that it takes 1 sec lag. and that is verrrry noticable

for me, nokia are the most user friendly mobiles.... had samsung, nokia, panasonic and had to take nokia back....
