actually are? My opinion is no, because you don't know what country they come from and it would probably be ruder to call someone from China Japanese. After they say "oh, I'm from Korea" then yes it would be rude.

I would just like to point out that I took a "where are they from" quiz for asians and the highest anyone got (chinese, korean, and japanese people also took this) was a 7 out of 14 and I think average was 4 or 5.

If you have a different opinion that's GREAT but try to be respectful and adult about the way in which you present it.

no i dont think its wrong to call them asian

you said it yourself "from where they are from"

they're from Asia right?

They are Asian.
They may also be Chinese or Japanese.
If you know the specificity, use it.
If you do not, call them a more general but accurate term ---- Asian.

no, its not wrong.

I think this is the proper word, actually, above Oriental.
That's what the kids from over there were taught in the 1980's, at least.
Remember, language is arbitrary, and names tend to change if bad stereotypes are associated with them.
Retarded ahs become handicapped has become disabled has now become PEOPLE with disabilites, putting people first, because fthe repeated difficulties they have faced.

No, not at all. What is wrong with saying "Asian" ? It is a politically correct statement to use that term!

Just like "European" can mean you are from Poland, German, Czechoslavakia, Sweden, Iceland, etc..... (basically you say Europe)..

Just as African American... originally from the continent of Africa...

Australian, Australia

Austrian, Austria

If you are from the continent of South America, you could say you are South American..

I haven't asked but I think they pretty much call themselves Asians. Quite prideful ethnicity...
I don't think it would be considered a bad thing.

I think it's better when you really don't know the country of origin. It's better to say Asian than the wrong country.

I think there are people that would get angry about it, but guess what haha it would be the same as asking is it wrong to call people from America, Americans. I say no. There are so many different places and many have very similar features. I think it is silly to get offended if you are mistaken for another race. I also think it is silly with in America to call people African-American, Asian-American, Spanish-American and so on. I'm sorry to get off subject. Ok back to the question. I say no it isn't wrong. It is perfectly ok. It is up to the individual as to whether or not they get offended or not.
If they do get offended, they can just blame it on the ignorance of people who don't sit around and study the different features/lifestyles/culture of every country in asia or any other continent (sarcasm intended). With no offense to anyone of course (no sarcasm intended) I really hope I didn't offend anyone, I just think sometimes people don't think before they get offended, that's all.
