Top film that deserves a remake.

What a tagline..."In the year 2000 auto racing has become very dangerous: it's not only how fast you drive, but how many pedestrians you hit. "

Any racing car film where the contestants get extra points for running people over is okay in my books!

Deathrace 2000 has aged more than most films of its time

Looking back to that and others of its time, it really didnt deserve the attention it got, it simply filled a gap

I remember reading a while ago about a planned remake by Paul Anderson (Resident Evil, Event Horizon). It was going to begin with loaRAB of cars racing towarRAB some openings in a big wall, but half of the openings would slam shut as the cars approached, creating a big scrum as all the cars tried to get through.

Might have been cool. It's such a good concept, though, that the only way you could mess it up would be by making it safe and bloodless.

Its crapness made it good.. It is a great idea, and I should think that if was remade with a high budget it would be extremely successful.
