Deathly Hallows - WOW!!

OMG saw the trailer when I went to see Inception last night and it looks absolutely incredible. So glad they're doing it justice by spreading it across two films, although if they've filmed it all (which they have as there were clips of the end), then why make people wait 8 months for the second half?! (Nov '10 part 1, July '11 part 2). Either way, cannot WAIT!! :D

I agree that it does look bloody good from the trailer, but doing it in two films is taking the mickey. The excuse that's been trotted out is that the studio wants to do justice to the story, but so much has been missed out in the previous movies that they would actually have to add to the final installment in order to cover everything that was in the book.

Lets face it, the studio knows that it's cash cow is heading to the abbatoir and they are milking every last penny out of the fans that they can.

i would have thought potter fans would be happy to prolong the end of the movie franchise

the gap is to give people time to refill pockets for the dvd/blu ray and sequel cinema tickets

i recently watched the first 6 so look forward to deathly hallows....hermonie is another year older....hummmmmmmmmmm

Can someone get Emzie a towel please? :p

In all honesty, 4 probably was the best of the bunch so far, although I really enjoyed 5 because that was when some of the peripheral characters started to be fleshed out a little (and Luna was brought in too!). I'm hoping that 7a and 7b don't skim over the secondary characters' contributions to the story (particularly Snape).

Who cares if one of the reasons they're splitting it into two parts is to make more money? If people don't agree with it, they can easily vote with their feet by not forking out for it.

I'm not complaining about the fact that we get two more movies, it would just be nice if the studio would be honest about why they're doing it that way is all.

Well personally I'm glad it's in 2 films. The previous books had stuff cut out that weren't as vital to the plot. In the final book nearly everything is vital to the plot, it would be hard to cut much out of it and it still making sense.

That's lost on me I'm afraid, I've never seen any of the Twilight movies or read any of the books.

I do have a rather amusing photoshopped poster about Twilight though, I'll dig it out when I get home!

The problem is though that many of the events in the final book follow on from things that were cut from previous movies. For example, Bill and Fleur in Shell Cottage is going to be a bit of a tricky one to explain, especially if they bother to mention Bills "furry little problem".

I disagree, for example there are vast chunks of the camping trip that could be ignored without trouble (as I think they should have been in the book). I think the two films is an extremely cynical ploy by the studios and I find it disappointing. It won't stop me going to see the films but the studios are doing this to milk every last penny they can out of the Potter franchise, they will make double the amount in terms of cinema tickets, dvRAB etc etc. Of course they're only thinking about us

But I expect they'll do a bloody good job with both films and most people won't be disappointed.

And after all, isn't that what making movies is all about? Delivering a bloody good end result which people enjoy?

Exactly. Delivering a good movie that gets the main plot across on the big screen, without being carbon copies of the books (which is impossible anyway). These are films, not a fan service.

I'd agree with this, on the first read it seemed to go on forever mainly because I was just desperate to find out what happened at the end, whenever I've read it again it seems perfectly fine. Agree about using the time to fill in some of the gaps left by previous films.

I do wonder if people who have just seen the films have a clue what is going on half the time, or whether they are perfectly fine on their own and it's only the extra knowledge that makes them seem less coherent.
