ok, firstly, I seldom reply to posts where the OP state 'discuss!!!' but since this topic happens to be about one of my all time favourite films, I'll let that one slide.
Death Proof is the perfect Saturday night film, from the fantastically camp opening of girl clutching her crotch because she neeRAB 'to pee' to the equally fantastically camp ending of Rosario Dawson's visual rendition of 'These Boots Were Made For Walking'.
Kurt Russell's Stuntman Mike verges on panto villain but in this trashy context that works for me and Zoe Ball's speeding-car hoping antics are just astounding and that crash scene half way through is just gore city.
I just adored this film, a great homage to 70's trash films.
One thing that I never understood though was why the critics turned on it, I've never seen them U-turn on a film like that before.
Got my blu-ray edition this morning, so I look forward to seeing it in it's original, un-padded out, double bill format.
It'll be interesting to hear people's opinions on the film once they've seen it in it's intended cut, I hope it brings a reappraisal.
