Death Note US Remake being written

I plan to interview him about his history about turning Japanese movies into hollywood movies (ie : the ring, grudge, departed)

i'll try to sneak in a few death note questions

Oh, give it up, you know you're probably not going to get much out of that pointless quest except maybe harassment charges, you've got no defense, Sam, me, and a bunch of reliable resources have pretty much beaten you.

I'm with you on that!

But before we get back on topic, let me just apologize for going off so much.
I shouldn't be "calling anyone out."
This is a forum to talk to people with similar interests; we shouldn't be getting into pointless arguments.

Besides, kdmccaskill, I think we have a lot in common.
We probably want the same thing from the movie; a good, faithful adaption that lives up to the spirit of the film.

So, I apologize for going "fisty cuRAB" against a fellow Death Note friend.

Anyways, back on topic:

I say Ryuk should be voiced by Christopher Walken.
Who's with me on that?

Speaking of which, there is a rumor going around that Gary Oldman will be the one voicing Ryuk.

Gary Oldman's wikipedia page says so, as well as a few other sites, but they all seem to be wiki pages. I can't seem to locate a "real" source, save for one Spanish-language site. Seeing as I don't speak Spanish, its hard for me to gauge the validity of this site. Moreover, if this rumor were true, surely there would be sites advertising so, right?

But I am open to the idea of the rumor being true... can anyone confirm this rumor using a "real" source?

In any case, true or not, the idea of Gary Oldman as Ryuk's voice:
What do you guys think?

Personally I'm for it.
Gary Oldman is a phenomenally good actor.
Also, I like the idea of Ryuk actually being in the freakin' thing.

I would say bring back Brian Drummond (hey, it worked for Transformers), but I love Gary Oldman so much. It might be a bit of an issue to get Brian Drummond out just to record the voice (unlike having him as a guest at a con), so it might be better.

If this is true, though, then I'm happy - at least we know Ryuk's in the damn thing. Death Note without Ryuk is every Death Note fan's worst nightmare.
