Death is Upon Us

I feel like death is upon my community. This semester, we've had at least 4 deaths, two critically injured and a whole shit ton of close calls. Just this weekend a 17 yr old hit and killed a girl coming from a sorority party. Her friend was hurt pretty badly too. On the same night, a mobile home exploded in the trailer park killing a mom and dad. They still haven't found their bodies.

I need to get out of this death pit. WTF is wrong with this town?!

I wasn't even going to dignify that with a response, but it infuriates me that you would compair a squirrel to a human life.

WTF?! A squirrel dying has nothing to do with this thread. Unless you have something intelligent to add, don't spam my thread with assinine dribble.

Magnolia, my community had three traffic deaths and five serious injuries since the start of this summer. One of the deaths and one of the hospitalizations were friends of mine. I know it's rough, and it hurts, but the best thing you can do is encourage your area to be more responsible and careful and, like me, GTFO as soon as you can. :hug2:

I understand what you mean. In the town I grew up in, when I was a Junior in high school we had 8 deaths and 1 serious injury just from kids I went to school with.

1 died falling off a scaffolding (sp?) while working his summer job, 4 died fucking around on train tracks and their truck was hit (technically 5 died in that, a girl was pregnant they later found out), 2 died 30 miles away both in separate cars going opposite directions when 1 passed out driving crossed the grassy median and hit the other killing both and then 1 died in another car accident. One girl was seriously hurt when she was following a truck with steel piping and it didn't clear the top of the bridge causing the pipes to hit her car. She was lucky to live.

I got out as soon as possible. And it seems like everytime I drive into that town I hear the song "Highway to Hell" by AC/DC. Not a good omen.

Just because people are dying in your community doesn't mean you will too.

That's why I'd never buy a car without side impact airbags...

Stop stealing my lines that I stole from a 15 year old DOS game.

How can you be the judge of whether or not a squirrel is equal to a human life? A squirrel is way more important to the ecosystem, as they actually help in the growth of oak trees. Humans are so destructive and I have no sympathy for human beings whatsoever and their destructive ways. By the way, I am not a squirrel.

I believe that he was going along with the whole apocalypse thing in connection to your title... one of those apocalyptic things being that animals would strangely die off for no apparent reason along with humans. Of course he should have spoken a little truer on it.

But seriously, I take it magnolia that you live somewhere that's not exactly considered a big city? More along the lines of small town USA? I myself, do live in small town USA. And it's actually pretty normal to notice when a semi-large string of deaths happen in your area. Everyone knows, or at least knows of the people involved in the people's accidents/killings/passing away.

I don't want you thinking that it's gonna be any different when you move off. Most of us in todays day and age wind up moving into the big cities to work out lives away. There's in fact per capita, a hell of a lot more deaths in the big city than there is in small town USA. It's just that we hardly ever notice in a big city (unless it's someone close), because we're always so busy and going on with our lives to really take any notice of it.

Death is just a part of life. Deal with it. It's as natural and normal as birth, and should be welcomed as a good thing, not a bad thing. Sure, many have been cut short of their lives, and I'm sure this is why you're so upset with this rash of deaths in your neighbourhood, but think about how many people die in our larger neighbourhood, the earth? It's a sad thing, to be sure, but don't let it bring down your mood. Just be grateful that you're not the one dead. Rather, you are the one alive, so start living! Don't let sadness bring you down, but elevate yourself with happiness in honour of those who have passed!

Even my community has been racked with death as just last year two suicides occurred in the local high school within two weeks of each other. Very sad, to be sure, but we have no other choice but to move on.

Hopefully this helped in making you feel better.

Um, I live by Virginia Tech. That shit sucked. Seriously it was a shooting, 2 car crashes and a 12 year old girl commited suicide in the same week. I claimed the apocalypse.

Back about 12 years ago when I was in 3rd grade, my best friend died of an athsma attack. You mourn, you forget. Death is a part of life.

Oh and GTFO that town..it sounds like another Final Destination movie..

In just over a year, there have been 4 deaths in my family, and 4 deaths of close family friends. Most recently, my cousin was killed in a car accident driving home from college for thanksgiving. So yeah, I kind of know how you feel.
