***spoilers***
In the book, she had no idea what kind of pain John had to go through being in the war, yet she sat there pitying herself while writing him a letter telling him that she would leave, taking away the one thing he ever looked forward to in his life. Her excuse later in the book was that she couldn't wait.

FURTHER MORE.
Is it just me or did it seem incredibly selfish what she did towards the end? She kept teasing John! Like telling him exactly how much she loved Tim, telling him how wonderful he was, and bringing up the old times she and John shared like it was nothing. I felt like it was just additional torment that she carelessly laid on John. And the way she knew she was still in love with John when she married Tim. I feel like she was trying to have her cake and eat it too. When John went to visit her, she let him see her half naked and John was the one who had to back away.
At the end, John is leaving her for the final time and she insists that they keep in contact. John tells her that Tim will be ok and everything will return to normal, at which she exploded saying that John can't be sure of that. Why was she resenting that Tim would most probably be ok? So she could end up with John?

If anyone disagrees, tell me why and please don't be mean about it. Thanks!
