Deadliest catch last night (19th)

Did anyone see this last night? How sad to see Captain Phil Harris fighting for life in hospital after a massive stroke. I shed a tear knowing he wasn't going to make it. Seeing such a strong man in that condition really reminded me of how fragile life can be.
Next weeks episode is going to be heartbreaking.

I honestly think its the best thing on TV at the moment, watching such a tough, no nonsense guy struggle has been hard to see but the strength of his son josh is amazing.
Of course weve known for months what happens but if anything, its making it harder to take for me.
Also think the trailers they make for the show are excellent, for some reason they always leave me with goosebumps.

Can anyone advise when this programme is next on please.

I've only seen it once. If memory serves me correctly the man who subsequently had a stroke was having a major argument with his son after finding the son taking his drugs????? Does that sound like the same pair?

We have been watching Deadliest Catch for a few series now and love it. We were so sad when we heard that Captain Phil had passed away. Seeing it on this current series makes it even more sad as you understand the struggles his sons were going through at the time. His son Josh is doing an amazing job and would make any father proud.

The episode tonight is going to be hard watching.

If you drink, smoke and sit down all day then I would say you are lucky to live as long as he did. God knows why he didn't quit after he had those blood clots a few years back.

I have watched every series of Deadliest Catch, having know Phil died, I knew this series would be tough. Last night was really sad. Tough watching a guy go like that when you feel you have got to know him so well.

RIP Phil.

I saw it all at USA pace and so that was only a couple of months after it actually happened.

A great loss to all the fans.

Beautifully and sensitively edited and should pick up some awarRAB for the way they dealt with a difficult matter.

On the 15th of October they set off for this years King Crab season with film crews and Josh and Jake on the Cornelia Marie...

I'll spoiler tag this in case some are not up to date:

Yes the same pair! The son (Jake - Youngest son) became addicted to drugs and his dad, Phil found him trying to pinch his painkillers. A big major argument followed, but was resolved somewhat with Jake promising to seek professional help and Phil said that he would go with him.

Then it all when so wrong.

Jake did go to an addiction clinic and his treatment is ongoing. Both he and his older brother, Josh, are currently out on the Cornelia Marie fishing for King Crab under a the new Capt that covered at the end of season 6. This will of course be season 7 and will go out March/April time next year in the USA.

As far as I know, Jake Anderson's Dad still remains missing.

But I would advise anyone starting to watch this show to go back to the very beginning or this season won't have the impact that it deserves.

:)

The Deadliest Catch best factual prog on tv.
Those Captains & Crews are all heroes.
Big Phil is gonna be missed, hope his Sons can carry on the tradition on the Cornelia Marie.

Ive seen a few clips of next weeks show on youtube and its just so hard to watch everyone finding out about Phil.
The way Sig finRAB out is just so upsetting.

Glad to hear is has some supporters here as it hardly gets a mention.

It started long ago being a programme about how some people caught King Crab but has long transcended that to be much more about the real people and their real life and death.

Yes a very hard episode, have the tissues ready!

But it must be watched. This is real life and fitting that as Phil wanted it, there is an ending to the story.

I've been a big fan of the series since it started and this season has been fantastic TV, I was worried about how they would cover Phil's death but I think it's been handled brilliantly.

Great Show, RIP Phil.
