Dead fish has grown a very thick coating of slime?

It could be Ich. Ich is treatable and you should take action immediately if it actually ends up that it is Ich. You can either raise your temperature up to 86 degrees for about a week or so (assuming you have a heater). Or, you can go the chemical route and go out and buy some form of treatment from the pet store.

A couple of fish I have in the fishtank have died. The weird thing is they each have grown a cocoon like substance around their entire body's. It looks like slime that is a watery milky white color. I wondering if anyone knew what this cocoon like thing is, what causes it, what prevents it, and if it happens again how to treat it before it gets out of control?

IT'S NOT ICH!!!!
Why is it when someone ask about a fish illness, people crawl out of the woodwork saying ich! There are many diseases out there and this has nothing to do with ich! The fish died and the bactieal started breaking down the fish, as it was left in the water and wasn't removed. This was part of the after death process, not what caused the death.
