I couldn't be bothered to watch part 2
IMO Steven Tomkinson spoiled it for me. He only ever plays Steven Tomkinson
Did I miss anything?

Just picked up the 1st book in a charity shop and am quite enjoying it, shall read a few more

1st episode - pretty good and full of potential - made me really want to watch the next episode.

2nd episode - biggest bag of sh!te I've watch for a long time.

Not read the novel and now never will.

any suggestions as to which actor might have played DCI Banks better than stephen tompkinson ?

i'll start off with colin firth (though i know he is too big a star to ever be in a tv prog again)

I discovered Peter Robinson's Insp. Banks a few years back and have read most of the books, best read chronologically.
In the main, I've not been disappointed.

The television adpatation was a shambles, unfortunately, and Tompkinson's portrayal one dimensional. More Wire in the Blood than Morse is how I would sum it up.

Am wondering though, if there are any plans for more as Annie Cabbot was welcomed into the fold by Banks so warmly!

I'd say read the books before judging the author.

I really enjoyed the books, but could not watch the drama when I heard it was Stephen Tomkinson playing Banks. Cannot stand him as an actor and I hate "Wild at Heart".

Why do Tv producers insist on having the same actors in everything they do ie Martin Clunes and Stephen Tompkinson. A few years ago it was Caroline Quentin, but she seems a bit out of favour these days except for M&S.

I would have preferred someone like Iain Glen at least someone a bit more gritty

I think I'll read the books now due to the recommendations on here ... but could someone who has read them answer a question for me about the TV drama please?

In the first episode we were led to believe that Lucy was hit in the head by Marcus because she had discovered what he was doing.

In the second episode it is clear that she was an accomplice all along ... so why did Marcus really hit her in the head?
