Daytona Ducati Concurse - We Won!

LOL, I was working...is my only excuse, these days making money rules out any pleasures. The Ducati events were the only thing happening I wanted to see in Daytona (cannot even count on the women anymore looking good).

My son being a school teacher had used all his leave on some surgery earlier in the year so he was out and I decided to just work and stay on the West side of the state. Since I have been going to Daytona since 1969 off and on just not a whole lot of draw now days compared to olden times. I usually try and see at least one dirt track race but even those do not have the same draw to me since every bike is basically the same these days. I have never been a follower of any rider but enjoy more seeing how different brands sound and work.

The "shootout" I would have "loved" to have seen and experienced. The crowds of people in that area though has grown to the point it is not something I enjoy being around and in sitting in traffic for long periods of time has no draw what so ever. Since the area where the shoot-out is held seems to be the new strip or main hang out compared to olden days its easier now to ride down down town mainstreet in Daytona than that area.

I think the shoot-out idea could become really popular if many different types of bikes showed up and it got to be a brand against brand (a quick and easy drag race to see, so to speak). Might be though a headache in setting up categories and size limits. Being that close to the sound and feel of such power I think could really catch on big time if someone put some time and thought in promoting it?? Maybe its already being done and I am just behind the times??

I would have never signed up but would surely have enjoyed hearing and watching. I very much enjoyed the you-tube clips. I was really laughing at the guys throttle action on the Deci....lol
He was quick on the wrist action...just not sure what it was suppose to add....style points for sure

What impressed me on the 1098 video was the bike never sounded like it was close to it rpm limit...though I know what was achieved in numbers it was in its power band. Of course lietning to a Ducati twin from the very first time I saw them in the early seventies at Daytona never sound like they ae really getting on it! They have that smooth I will just take my time to do this sound...always have always will. Now the Deci is a completely different animal in those regards....wonder what a 1198 Deci would sound like??

The person riding the winning 1098 showed he knew what it took to get the job done....he was smooth, very smooth. He had rode it a few times and was very focused. Thats what it takes.

Wish there had been a you-tube video for each contestant.
