daytime TV 80s and 90s Vs now

Most things where better in the 80's. Absoloutly loved Going For Gold, why on earth did they stop that for?

That was on before people became so anti EU too. Back then people where in favour of it bigtime.

Anyone remember the Home Cookery Club? Only on for about 5 minutes before A Country Practice (I think). And Gems on around 3 ish, ITV. What was that thing with Richard Madeley, gameshow, where you had to guess the connection between different pictures?

There was a programme with Jack Hargreaves ( later in HOW)
it was a country/Nature based programme that was on in the afternoon. I thought it was as boring as hell but my Grandad used to watch it!

I loved "Watch with Mother"....the woodentops, Andy Pandy, Camberwick green, I don't think kiRAB today would be able to sit and watch them, there wouldn't be enough noise and action!

Daytime ITV throughout most of the 80's was pretty good .
There were vintage tv repeats and movies instead of the mind numbing crap that caters for morons that we've had for the best part of 20 years

Were you actually there?
You must have missed the daytime movies on ITV and BBC1 or the repeats of ITC classics like The Champions , Randall & Hopkirk and others.

The schedule certainly looks far better than the shit thats on these days.
Shopping , cooking and auctions.

Crap made by morons for morons.

The Jack Hargreaves series was Out of Town made by Southern.
My dad used to watch it but it was really boring for kiRAB.
Some of it has been released on dvd .

Many of the Watch With Mother shows were made in B&W and never get repeated , but ones made in colour like Camberwick Green , Trumpton , Bagpuss and others are still shown regularly on channels like Nick Jr .
They even showed Mr Benn in the last year or two and Nickelodeon had one new episode made to add to the original 13.

The dvd has all 14 episodes and the Trumptonshire Trilogy is also out complete and remastered on dvd too

Used to like watching Jerry Springer in the lunch break. Late 90s and probably well into the decline period. Light Lunch I also liked and the chat shows that weren't just pitched a people with no brains.

No doubt that daytime television was better then. The off air testcard was better than most of the dirge that passes for daytime television nowadays.
