Daylight Savings Time Adjuster from Palm

Since the City Time "settings" can be changed for each U.S. city, and the CityTime database is backed up @ HotSync and on any "card backup" program you hvae, I'd stick with City Time.

I read in the fine print that this "Palm fix" has to be reapplied after each and every hard reset. If your CityTime database is backed up on pc/backup card - a simple restore would take care of it.

I'd either do that or set it manually twice a year. Hope this helps. / p

An even simpler method is "Same Time" which is a F/W progrram I have used for years (3 different Palms). Every hotsync it corrects the Palm clock to the one on your desktop. The one on my desktop is kept current with another free program that updates the time automatically to the Atomic Clock by the internet. Being at work, I think the name is merely "Atomic", but I am not certain of the name. It just works and I never have to worry about it. If not free there are many inexpensive programs that will do the same thing. Just Google Free PC Programs/Utilities and look for the time adjustment ones.

By the way, the manual adjustment way is far more complicated than just two adjustments. You also have to adjust backwards for the two old-time scheduled DST changes as they normally happen automatically also. I like my way above much better and it is free (as I recall, but my memory that far back, is not what it used to be, and believe me, it doesnt improve with age. However, there are some advantages, for example I can hide my own Easter eggs, make my own lunches and be surprised when I open them up at work, wrap my own Christmas present, etc).

I synch up the clock on my laptop to: time.nist.gov

Just double-click on the clock in the lower righthand corner of the screen and select the tab titled 'Internet Time' and put in the URL to the server you want to synchronize to. It's that easy...

And I am sticking with CityTime on my T5. I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow...

CityTime would handle the DST changes if you are staying in one location and need to schedule an appointment with somebody in another time zone. However, you would more than likely need Palm's DST patch if you actually travel to another time zone and change the location setting in System Preferences. It could affect the views in Calendar and other PIM programs.

I can vouch for drbaer's "atomic;" used it for couple of years now. I "ping" it manually every week or so. However, it was not quite "tweaking" my Windows 2k setup this morning (kept reversing time 59 minutes 56 seconds to "old" time for some reason) . . . until I got a patch from here (applies to Win2k/Win95 only, I believe) . . .

As for City Time I have an old version along with my own heavily edited cities list, and changed the US/Canada cities manually . . . took an hour. It took 5 hotsynchs to make it accept my "home city" and not keep asking - but it's okay now. Part of that, however, might have been that I had the CityTime DB in RAM (normal) but CityTime APP in flash. I moved it to RAM and it seemed to "take."

Actually, I just uploaded the latest copy of CityTime (v.5.8.4) from Code City and it seemed to take care of the problem. I didn't realize I was running such an old copy of the software, I've had it pretty much since I bought my T5 nearly three years ago...
