Daybreak's new set

They just changed the orientation of the sofa positions so that Adrian & Christine now sit in front of the side wall panel with the clock. Nothing else much has changed. It is presumably in response to the darker mornings.

And ITV allegedly spent a million pounRAB building a set with a view of......the Thames. Did no-one realise it's dark for about five months of the year in the UK at that time of day.I'm afraid tinkering with the set is not going to improve the content, it's still stuck at 600,000 viewers.

They did actually. The increased used of lite panels was always intended to be used in the winter months. And for one month in December there will be Christmas decorations. That will no dout come as a shock to you, but you heard it here first!

and the audience is averaging more around 700k than 600k but lets not let facts overly bother us when we are grinding our axes ftv! your post count on daybreak must be higher than the barb average by now?

looks like you want it to fail

see your point though, the programme is all over the place. ITV news spent a chunk of their budget bringing in a black & yellow ITV brand CGI set for their news programmes as not wanting to look london centric when it had the image of the thames and a reverse of the big ben clock face, then Daybroke does the opposite. just don't think they can do right for doing wrong.

I still want it to win, was nice toi see Kate on 'lorraine' this morning, maybe LK could take over the mornings. ?.

Too right - the prog is still absolutely awful. When are they gonna get rid of the dreadful Adrian Chiles and get someone with some personality?

They haven't changed the set at all.

The panels in front of the windows have been used for about a month, they are moved to the side when the sun rises.

All what happened this morning is that the sofa has rotated about 45 degrees.

But ITV made great play about the special pnaels that could be slid in front of the windows during the dark mornings, panels that could be lit and appear to be a all manner of colours

Now I thought that it was rather obvious, seeing as it followed on from a number of previous posts. However, for clarity, the point was that, when the dark winter skyline issue was pointed out to the production team, they made a big thing about those panels, in that they would move them across the dark windows and the colours would provide a pleasing backdrop to the presenters. Yes, they might still be using them, but with the presenters now sat in front of the one wall, the prominence of said panels and their alleged effectiveness is reduced somewhat, and might appear to be another change in order to improve things.

I apologise if my original point was not made in terms that were easy to digest.

No, that was just Adrian Chiles.

He'll have to keep moving for the next few days or people will think he's a guy and start giving Christine pennies.

Apparently it was a record low yesterday, rounded up, so actually below 600,000, but I should point out it was the first day of the school holidays (or GeorgeS will berate me again:eek:)

Another indication perhaps that the changed sofa position is a rushed job and that perhaps these coloured screens were not creating the desired effect (artistic or ratings). If using that wall as a backdrop to the presenters was an option in the original plans, it is reasonable to expect that the clock would have been positioned slightly differently to allow for that.
