Daybreak, First Day in, Improvement?

The studio was looking very good this morning during the Ben Affleck interview (and that background is stunning in the right conditions) and Adrian's clothes are starting to get a dash more colour which is adding to the scene. Dan Lobb need not have worn a purple shirt, however. Enough of that going on already, Dan.

Another reason why I found it strange that she had the day off. Is it in the contract that they can only present as a couple? If they are seperated would it be a disaster in the eyes of the public and planners?

I also had queries over the signings and big money that they were given when the press releases said that Chiles was going to be the face of ITV footy and the Bleakley would also be given primetime shows.
I'm guessing it would be a hard schedule to keep doing 5 mornings a week then primetime weekend shows.

Another reason for staying with a cushy 30min airtime evening job on the BBC.

I don't mind Kate (but she neeRAB to sit properly and stop curling up her legs on the sofa!) but I can't stand Dan, who seems to be building up his part a lot. He just seems really unpolished. At least we haven't got Adrain commenting on everything he does or says today, that winRAB me up too!

it does seem like they would be missing alot more of Daybreak than they need to, if Christine has to take off any episodes Adrian does due to football, AND Adrian has to take off any episode that Christine has to, due to whatever Primetime gig she gets.

I fail to see what is so bad about them appearing without one another.

oh well its ITVs choice, not like they are expecting any symapthy from me, if it all goes wrong,

a big part of that was the move to Pay TV, that is not the case here.

Daybreak is in the most privilged postition a commercail TV program can be on, Channel 3, god help it if ITV ever lost Channel 3.

I really think its time to call ITVs blufff on Channel 3.

I saw 5 minutes of it "by mistake" this morning. The set is horrible and CB did indeed look like she was physically and emotionally uncomfortable having to sit practically on AC's knee. There was some non-article about it being 40 years since Jimi Hendrix died and they were blaring "All Along the Watchtower" in the background, AC was having to shout over it. Then it cut to Carnaby Street with a load of old cliched tosh about "swinging London". Give. Me. Strength.

I've switched to watching BBC in the mornings now. I wasn't exactly a fan of the GMTV presenters but at least they were watchable and GMTV was interesting. I think launching Daybreak was a big mistake, imo.

Still not keen on it myself. Why is the local news so rushed? This is the only reason now why I tuned in to ITV before 1030hrs; I turned over to see the news a little late (I thought it was supposed to be on at quarter to and past the hour) and the whole news/traffic/weather reports scaled back to about 2mins!

I hated Kate Garraway on GMTV but by comparison with Christine she looked like a heavyweight this morning......Christine is not a presenter IMO all she does is laugh, she isn't quick or intelligent enough to ad lib or make entertaining comments on the shows items, without the autocue she is lost.............I think she will eventually be found out and replaced.
Adrian Chiles is low key quirky, original and amusing and a far cry from his bland teeth and smiles predecessors and once he has a partner who can trade witticisms with him rather than just laugh at his jokes then this show will do better.

Personally I think guest presenters and more variety would be a good thing.............

I've only watched a couple of shows and I do prefer it to GMTV, mostly because Richard Arnold has left;)

I agree though that's it's too like the vastly overrated One Show which puts me right off. Can't stand BBC Breakfast or Sunrise either so I've decided to stop watching tv of a morning, apart from having a quick peek at Sky Sports news.
