Daybreak, First Day in, Improvement?

well said i quite like the partnership of Kate & Dan.

just seen nigella in the green room. funniest thing was the pouty looks she was giving the TV reviewer while he was eating her treats (no joke intended) ;). looks like her baps were screaming to get out of that tight top.
 
it has to be said most posts on this thread and an earlier one set up at the launch have all echoed the same verdict. look at GMTV when it first started, it had new talent then when it faltered, GMTV took back most of the TVam staff and won the ratings.

the presenters on the whole wasn't the problem it was the look and content that was wrong.
 
If they ever run out of questions for their daily quizes then I've got one for them and it's a bit more difficult than the usual ones:

"What is the name of the road bridge over River Forth"

Is it:

a) London Bridge
b) San Francisco Bridge
c) Forth Road Bridge

This show has just got worse and worse. The studio looks horrible, barely furnished and empty with just a few purple Ikea sofas and cheap screens thrown in. A breakfast studio neeRAB to be cosy and vibrant for the morning (like BBC and GMTV), this just looks clinical and cold. Also, they need to fix the lighting as the studio looks dreary and grey all the time, its depressing to watch!

Then there's the presenters. Adrian and Christine have zero personality on this show. She seems to put on this forceful laugh, and I'm pretty sure she's only doing it to show off her teeth. Adrian tries to be funny but serious at the same time, and it just ruins the show.

Why they have kept those bitter GMTV staff on I have no idea. Kate looks furious everytime she's announced as 'entertainment correspondent (what a step down lol :p), and it just ruins the whole atmosphere of the show.

All in all, this show seems doomed from the start. The presenters they spent millions on poaching have basically flopped, the show just seems like a stripped down One Show with a sprinkle of GMTV's worst bits. ITV must be crapping themselves, as this show is crashing straight into a wall. Either they will 'evolve' it or they will eventually axe it. Looks like BBC had the last laugh after all.
 
I agree. I think Christine is vain - and nothing wrong in being that. I doubt she'll stick with the show for too long if it takes a toil on her eyes and other areas of her face. I reckon she'll quit within 18 months if her contract permits it. She doesn't strike me as 4 am wake up in the morning sort of girl! :D
 
I think ITV will "evolve" Daybreak - a bit like what Channel 4 did with RI:SE, where it went from that odd studio-based thing with lots of presenters and morphed back into what was essentially The Big Breakfast.

ITV will do it with Daybreak and will morph it back into something like GMTV - they'll bring in some more presenters, maybe to do Fridays, and will make the studio warmer and more comfortable looking etc... I'd be surprised if they don't do this because without making some drastic, kind of "backwarRAB" changes it'll need axing completely in a couple of months!
 
I remember reading beforehand in a newspaper an Irish TV executive predicting Daybreak would flop because Bleakley was too glamorous for early mornings and would make the viewers feel inferior, they prefer mumsy and non-threatening presenters like Lorraine Kelly. Looks like he wasn't far wrong!
 
in that case Adrian Chiles is an ideal Breakfast presenter, who should be presenting a Breakfast show, aimed at men.

Do Sky Sports have some sort of Football themed Breakfast show?

This must be a big blow to itv execs, surely it should have beat BBC Breakfast on its first day? also if all the ex GMTV viewers who are saying they dislike the new show stop watching, itv could find themselves with an expensive flop, with even lower viewing figures than GMTV
 
even if Christine did not present the show live, she could have gone on a mini promo tour to promote the show during the day.

This Morning, Loose Women, Alan Titsmarsh, all options.
