Daybreak, First Day in, Improvement?

Funnily enough most of the comments I read who like the programme said that they liked it's younger look.

I noticed this yesterday on their first news bulletin, you could also see in the reflection the sports guy making notes or reading his laptop.

This Morning is up 15% on last year which in turn was up 20% on the year before. They need to focus their efforts on fixing Daybreak, not ruining This Morning.

It maybe right that they axed GMTV, but that does not make Daybreak the right replacement.

Its a talent vacum I tells you (as ive discussed on another thread) there is so much succesful BBC talent in this show, I can only conculde that once you sign on the dotted line with ITV, you loose part of, if not all of your talent.

Its strange but there seems to be evidence to support it.

It's hardly a clever tactic to have both your main presenters off on the same day. Daybreak will continue to have this problem with Adrian when he's on footie duty.

I tried a couple of minutes of Daybreak, but it's just not my kind of thing. Cringe TV. I'm actually watching Russia Today now! It's much better. :D

Watching it this morning... where are Adrian and Christine?

It's Garraway and the sports editor... do they normally take over on a Thursday? (Seems a weird day to take over).

'Daybreak' makes a big song and dance about how they want to be a credible news-led programme.

Then they run an imbecilic competition asking how many years in a century.

They don't get it, do they?

Daybreak:

Adrian says something, the whole studio laugh like hyenas ..
Christina shows off her mega-white teeth ..
Competition time ..
*adverts*

Check out this really deranged post I read on the Daily Mail website:

You keep taking the pills, Caroline. I'm sure your crazy, psychotic personality will go sooner or later! :D

I think programmes at this time of the day cater for people who are getting ready for work and school, who dip in and out of the programme, rather than people who are at home all the time, sitting glued to their TVs!

I have to agree with you... they would be perfect for This Morning... Holly's nice but not quite right for the show as she's a bit too 'vacant' at times and simpers far too much... and the silver fox has been doing it too long and likes himself too much!!!

Phil would be ideal to go and work in their 'Hub' since he's fond of Tweeting, loves his i-Pad, Facebooking etc etc!!!

You do realise that it's a pisstake, the Mail's site is full of them there is even a facebook group site dedicated to posting the most ridiculous Daily Mail style posts.

Yes very sad, but it was nice of Daybreak to use a clip from Good Morning Britain to introduce Martin Kemp yesterday, I thought.

Plus GMB had an absolutely fantastic, strident theme tune! :D

I don't think he can. He wouldn't be able to see the autocue and they wouldn't have Christine bunched up against him for whatever reason.

A lot of teeth on there. Bleakley and Garraway. They just need a consumer section with Ranson and a roving report from Olivia Lee!

I'm still not sure why they got the BBC Entertainment girl in to do the news. Why not get her to do the entertainment? She's not good at the news. She's stuck in 60secs mode and is too quick and bombastic (couldn't think of another word). ReminRAB me of Jonathan Charles and I can't stand him!

i think the truth is very little thought has gone into any aspect of this programme - ITV made the same mistake they've made before, they thought that by hiring in a couple of ''big'' names (not sure they're all that big) everything else would take care of itself. It hasn't, Friday hit a new low in the ratings. Incidentally I see Dr Hillary Jones (who is still described as ''the GMTV doctor'' in advertising today) is involved in flogging holiday homes in Cyprus. I trust viewers will be told if tthe subject crops up on Daybreak, unlike the numerous oversights by which the close connections between Garraway, Phillips and Del Piero and the Labour party were never mentioned on GMTV.
