Daybreak, First Day in, Improvement?

I think it is ok, perhaps it will improve when AC and CB relax a bit more, in my opinion it probably will not do much better than GMTV did against Breakfast or Sunrise, and why oh why did they keep Lorraine Kelly, she is truly awful, and now is on for almost 1 hour, with a hideous new set to boot, this dreadful mistake on its own is enough for me to turn over to the other side!!

Other interviewees can be interviewed via the same methoRAB, as is often the case on other news programmes. And those with some book or film to plug will make the effort to plug, even if some travelling is involved.

You forgot Tony Blair ....

The whole revamp including marketing, studio, audience research etc without wages according to an insider/ daybreak employee on another forum is 10m.

Adrian's contract is 4 years long and Christine's is 4m over 3 years.[both contracts include primetime work]

In 2008 Gmtv made a profit of

I do like Adrian's wit and he still has it at 6am.
Did notice today that because of the darkness outside you can see the reflection of camera's cameramen and the autocue. Don't know how they will fix this with longer darker mornings coming.

I think it's too early for people to start judging :)

as i said, i think it's an improvement on GMTV.

but they're going to need time to settle in, get used to the running order, performances, weather, presenting etcetc.

I prefer it to BBC though, much more laid back :)

Morale fell further when they got the BARB figure for Tuesday morning - 760,000. They are now below GMTV's average figure of 820,000. BBC Breakfast 1.4 million. Send for Roland Rat !

Well by November virtually the whole show is going to be in the dark despite the clocks changing. The whole set is cold and uninviting while BBC Breakfast has lots of bright colours and is warm by comparison. And they spent

I wouldn't even care to give final judgment on the ratings until the end of the week until there is a clear picture,

But really after all the hype and marketing 82k extra viewers since last Fridays unpromoted GMTV, is a disappointing start.

For the last 3 months GMTV averaged 23% in that slot, yesterday 25%. If it falls lower than that then its a disaster given all the investment.

I think Adrian and Christine got too big for their boots and thought they were the greatest presenting team ever and could demand these high figures, people in this country don't like that type of thing and people just think you are not all that great and don't watch, most people probably liked them on The One Show and out of spite too are thinking oh go away now, not interested in you now. Finding out what they earn too much can annoy people, most people don't like to think others are been paid millions to sit of sofas.

Have they had any noteworthy guests on this show? I admit I have not seen any of it apart from a bit on Monday and I know Blair was on it but not sure who else has been on. I ask because today on the BBC Breakfast they had David Haye and Audley Harrison on the sofa. Then Alexandra Burke, Gemma Arterton and Stephen Frears.

as usual some of the posts - not yours - are selective in their figures. I wonder why? re your post the profit figure will be affected by the ad recession in 2008-09 but should bounce back in 2010. You also need to include the back office savings from integrating GMTV into ITV.

Format is awful, GMTV got through a lot more news and guests. They seem to have one guest a morning, and the same one bit of news throughout the whole morning. Anyone could present that show because its the same 4 or 5 features repeated for 2.5 hours.

I was one Of the extra people who tuned in to see if it was any good...

I can confirm of what I saw it's equally as bad as GMTV. Poor Adrian and Christine, they have made a bad decision here.

IMO

Maybe if they split the presenters up a bit so that she would do all the fashion/cooking stuff and he does like Product/TV/Movie reviews and the odd item aimed at the minority male audience.

Then they can come together for the real life/celeb interviews.
