day 5 of prozac

I been taking prozac for 5 days.my consulter told me I should feel a little better in 5 days and the prozac should start to work a little.i still feel the same upset shaking going out of my mind all day and night and worrying all day.why would they tell me 5 days ill feel better and everyone tells me it takes like 4 to 6 weeks for the med's to start working.man I cant stand this I feel like tonal crap.I hope this stuff works I cant take waiting another 4 to 6 weeks for another med to work:but i took prozac about 11 years ago and it made me feel better after a while hope it will this time.mad:
 
It does take 4 to 6 weeks. What dose did they start you on?

Prozac was a wonder drug for me. Just try to hang in there
 
they started me on 20mg is that dose ok?but its the generic form of paxil fluoxetine.but they told me its the same thing hope it is.
 
ctbo, This Tuesday I will be at the 2 week point, it wasn't really until after the first 5 days that I began to lose the 'pill generated' side effects. So in my case that was true.

I think the only difference is you started at a higher dose, and the result of that might be more intense side effects for a longer duration. My doc told me that when I increase my dose that I should be ready for a couple more days of side effects until the body adjusts.

To me the most important thing is keeping everything in focus, if you know there will be side effects, you have to learn to just ride it out and not let it play with your mind.

Prozac does NOT work in 5 days. Ive been taking it about 15 months now and it didnt do anything to help me for at least 8 weeks. I did feel the effects of it by being extremely tired after about a month though. Ive halved my dose to one 20mg tablet every other day, and seriously i dont think i could cut them out totally now, they work really well for me.

Stick with them, you will turn the corner and feel better in a while but you must be patient and give them time to work.

I don't know why the doctors tell people it will work that quick. I asked my doctor how long luvox cr would start to work for me and he said it depenRAB. Some people 5 days some 10. My anxiety was so much worse I had to stop taking it after 6 pills. I took paxil in the past for depression, trouble sleeping, muscle aches, which were problably some form of anxiety. I remeraber it being about 6 weeks before I noticed a difference in my mood.
