Day 3 no 91 only 82, what am i doing wrong?

giving you the benefit of the doubt about what your intentions are (maybe you are just using satfinder to test signal strength) then yes as long as you have a strong signal 90+ on your 91 sat then you should get at least a decent signal by putting an LNB in the 82 spot.... (assuming you are setting up a dual LNB dish pointing to both satellites AND you have your skew set correctly)

You do not need any sort of switch or anything to pick up 82....however since you are not trying with a switch then I'm wondering if you are just trying to point at 82 alone....in which case skew is not an issue BUT you need a different elevation then you have for pointing at 91 which might explain why you don't pick 82 up going left and right after getting 91.

google for sat angle calculators...there are a lots of them if you need the correct settings.
 
I just had another technician out to try to get my HD reception above 45%. Another $100 down the drain.

How much larger dish would I need to increase my reception to maybe 65% ? Where would I get one ?
 
Got 91 at around 80%, live in NW Calgary. skew at 70, elev at 29

No sign of 82...when I try it, just says wrong satelitte 91.

Ready to go to installer although I hate to cause this should be easy

All suggestions welcome.

Have you done a check switch?
And have you selected the 82 bird in the menu?

You can always run the cables direct (use a F-81 splice to bypass the switch) and manually connect to the correct coax and THEN reconnect and run check switch.

If the elevation and skew are correct and you have 91, then 82 pretty much HAS to be there unless it's just happens to be obstructed by something.

You might also be on the WRONG lnb coax and you are 9 degress right instead of left.

Double check you lines from the disk.

Since 91 is to the right in the sky of 82, then the 91 LNB is the LEFT one when viewed from the back of the dish.

I paste a table of all the KU sat's on my meter and being in the same city,
I show a Bev Dual as 146.3 True Azimuth/129.6 compass
The Skew as 71.7 and the ELEVATION as 25.9

Check those settings and try again.
Should be there for ya.
 
Berliner it needs to be over 70% for you to get a decent service...

What had the tech done? And what was is final word on why he coudn't ge a higher signal? Are there trees around the dish? Trees at this time of the year is the reason for many signal lost
 
for all those havng issues hitting both sats on 1 dish
all of the elevation/skew settings go out the window if your dish arm is not plumb
a dollar store level will save you ALOT of time/hair, and maybe your sanity
dont drink any beer, until you have run the check switch, and it comes back good!
 
Awe come on, you have to have at least one before you begin unless you are installing on the roof of course :)
 
I am the guy whom the "tec" told that the building was in the way.

I asked Bell to send out the tech, and he determined that a tree was in the way, moved the dish 5 feet to the north, and viola, I am in business.

Thank goodness I don't have to go to Shaw cable.
