Dawn of War II - Online Multiplayer Increase my Commander's rank?

When I play online using steam and windows live etc. on dawn of war 2 i come across players that are ranked much higher than me, highest being 34!? I am only rank 1 and have no idea on how to increase this?

Please help as I am getting destroyed out there!
