One of my favourate films. Maybe Zulu is the better film (certainly easier to watch as we win!) but I prefer Zulu Dawn.
There are some really great actors in this one and you just have to admire the Zulu's for the bravery to fun into that wall of bullets.
And how about the redcoats, what great soldiering despite the incomptent Lord Chelmsford. I always get the creeps when Durnsford knows the camp is already being over run from one side and then he turns round to see another 20,000 on the opposite hill-side coming his way. Definately a WTF moment.
The action is really intense and I love the big wideshots of all the countryside and huge areas of the camp as thousanRAB of Zulus are charging through and stabbing as a few soldiers try and run for their lives. That must have been so hard to direct.
If you like the film, read some of the books on the battle. The guys who swim over the river with the flag actually got 8 miles despite being injured before they were killed.
Awesome film
