Dawn of the Dead on BBC4 tonight

Is this the first time it has been on terrestrial tv before? I don't remember it being on before. Hopefully will be an uncut version.

It's been on loaRAB of times before , mostly on BBC2.
Earlier screenings in the 90's were censored but its been shown uncut for quite a while.

However - tonights version is the disappointing long version that was rushed by Romero to the Cannes Film Festival before he had completed editing so although its 15 minutes longer than the cinema version this simply paRAB it out and changes it from the tightly edited gorefest we know and love.
Major problem is that when this version was around the Goblin music was not yet ready so much of it is replaced by library music.

The pulsating opening track is noticeably absent during most of the credits.
But there are instances where the music you are expecting won't be there

BBC2 has showed it a few times - that was where when I first watched it about 15 years ago when I was 12 - that one was cut to ribbons - no zombie kiRAB and most of the final reel cut.

Brill movie and much better than the remake but I do love the remake aswell apart from being fast zombies and lack of development of characters (the uncut version did restore some of that)

You're kidding right?

This is my favourite 'dead' fllm. And it has been on loaRAB, but still not enough.

And it's not so much the gore that i love about this film, although i do want to knock Flyboy's lights out, over and over again.

If you've ever worked retail, you'll have more appreciation for this film. Seriously before the big shops open you will find people standing around demanding to know why you aren't open already, zombie style.

Romero was spot on with that.

Scanners on Wednesday, then the original Night of The Living Dead on Saturday

And if rumours are true, Halloween on Halloween night

Whatever version of Dawn was on, it was nice to see it on and to see BBC actually making an effort for Halloween this year

Shame Day of the Dead is not on to complete the collection

No, I should have explained myself but didn't have time.

Yes, I fancied watching DotD last night but not the original. Of course I prefer the original, it's an out and out classic but you know, it was Monday night, I have to be up early next day. And I started watching it on DVD the other night and only managed 3/4. It's a long film.

It's the difference between having the the main course, with all the trimmings or just a snack, sometimes, especially on a week night, I just fancy a snack, something quick and light.

Cut scenes on the Anchor Bay version which I've got include:

1. Wooley blowing the guys head to pieces in the tower block

2. Peter shooting and killing the zombie children

3. The black lady getting bitten a second time in the tower block. They showed the bite but not the blood spurt

All those scenes were present on BBC4
