Dawn of the Dead 2004

Just watched the first black and white version. It really wasn't bad at all. Can just imagine how scary it was 30 odd years ago

The remake is "ok" and "ok" only if you completely ignore the fact it's a remake of an old time classic, as a stand alone film it's easier enough to watch and get into it, but it has nothing to do with George A Romero's concept
I couldn't help thinking it was Americas answer to 28 days later..with a bigger budget and a "ner ner" we can do better...which I spose they did...was alot of running about legions of the undead (a nod to 28 days later) with no indication they went around eating people, just alot of hints it was a virus spread about by a rabidesque bite.
The whole motto "when theres no room left in hell the dead will walk the earth" made no sense, as they indicated you only became a zombie if you snuffed it by a bite, not by anything else, where in the good old originals the dead came back no matter what the cause (short of having no head) so the motto made more sense...it lost all the character development of the original, lost the atmosphere, and was decidely dumbed down for a modern audience..watch shaun of the dead if you want a good homage of zombie films since past, its excellent...but if you want a quick modern day horror film full of zombies and don't really care for the original, then dawn of the dead is for you I suppose..long winded speech I know :D but I'm passionate about my old fav's being remade!

dawn of the dead was verry disapotiing as zombies dont run about like mad
so its get no no for me but iam going 2 c shaun of the dead suppose 2 be better heres hope

Aha! these are your modern day zombies!! despite being supposedly devoid of all intelligence..dead..and hungry for the flesh of the living..these evil swines are certainly not inept at distinguishing between species..these zombies are picky with what they eat!!..
There also known to be health conscious!..going for the occasional brisk walk or run! :D

That's a point, I've never seen a zombie dog in these type of films....oh wait - there was Resident Evil 2 I s'pose...

I didnt like it either. It went on too long too - so i got bum ache watching it.

I found it exciting to begin with, and then the boredom set in. The only character i wanted to live was the cute dog :D

I would give it 6/10.

I thought Ving Rhames and Jake Weber were good, and towarRAB the end they were the only two I wanted to survive. Apart from that it seemed badly edited with some fairly cheap looking computer effects.

Nothing like a good sclock-horror B movie. I'm looking forward to it as I love bad horror movies. :)

Despite my slighty dopey looking face, I did check my listings - they were faulty and corrected later that day!

The middle of nowhere - been discussed at great length before now...
