Dawn of the Dead 2004

I'll be going to the 11.50am showing tomorrow (cos it's cheaper!) to see it. I'm looking forward to it after seeing the trailer and other parts of the film on the net. Gimme loaRAB of gore please.....

Aaaagggghhhh! Leave the poor man alone! He'll make a fourth when he has the correct financial backing and when he feels it's the right time.

I finally got to see the remake. Yes it's frothy and cliche ridden, but not too bad as far as remakes go - there have been worse. Can I also remind people that remakes are far from a new concept and people should really think about that before they start whining about the recent spate of 'Generation X' updates that are pulling in people in their millions (*ahem* lest we forget that even LotR is a remake).

P.S - The original 'Night of the living dead' can now be downloaded from the internet archive without breaking any copyright laws - result :)

I havn't watched the original yet, but badly want to !
Went to see this tonight, it was alright but very annoying to watch the stupid women who have the reactions of a mongoose or the brain cells of a mongoose.

I've seen it.
Zombies look good.
One funny scene featuring celebrities (you'll see it)
Other than that, an absolute sack of sh**e
no character development
awful acting
plot lines you can see from a mile off

Its probably the worst film i'll see this decade!

The 'remake' is not so much a remake at all, more a way of using a well known name to secure necessary finances. The new film scores highly for remaining downbeat and depressing throughout and for creating a genuine feeling of apprehension and despair. Hopefully it'll begin a new wave of non-post ironic 'horror' films.... Scream and the like really did nobody any favours and are FAR worse than Dawn of the Dead '04.

BTW, Romero's 'Season of the Witch' is on Channel 4 tonight. Well worth a watch and with a strong finale.

i was quite disappointed with this film! no character development, crap plot, crap script, and i didnt care that it ended. plus all the shock horror gore bits were predictable and somewhat comical. at least shaun of the dead will be intentially funny!!!! :D roll on april9th

NO-NO-NO!
I won't be seeing it!
I loved the original - do they hide out in a shopping centre like they did in the original?
I hate it when they do poor remakes of good old movies.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Italian Job
Get Carter
and the ultimate travesty......

The Haunting - 90s remake with Catherine Zeta Welsh-tart.

The 1963 original is the ONLY movie that ever truly scared me - you don't ever see the ghost, but your imagination is let run riot - so atmospheric, and so much spookier than any modern technicolour gore-fest

Mongeese (mongooses?) have very quick reactions. That's how they are so adept at killing cobras. I'm not sure how bright they are though. ... Probably not very, or they'd pick a softer natural enemy.

Don't much fancy Dawn of the Dead. It looks like the same garbage we've seen a hundred times only with fast zombies. If I wanted to see that I'd rent the original and watch it on fast forward.

The original is on BBC2, Wednesday, 11:20pm

Anyone who ain't seen it, and intenRAB seeing the new one, MUST see the original.
Better storyline, better developed characters, more atmospheric, & scarier!

OK, because production techniques have improved, the special effects are better in the new one.
But as anyone who's seen that bore 'Pearl Harbor' can testify - Special effects alone, do not make a good movie!

I still have my old copy of DOTD recorded off BBC2 the last time it was on a few years ago... I recommend watching if you haven't done so - Carlos_dfc pretty much summed it up: Better storyline, better developed characters, more atmospheric, etc.

The full uncut version runs 139 mins, and the BBC2 schedule allows 140 mins.
So, hopefully it'll be uncut - they may still cut a few seconRAB though (the 2 zombie kiRAB getting blown away)
