Data Recovery

I am having a very unique and urgent issue.

My father just passed away very unexpectedly and left a lot of financial confusion. His accounts and passwords are stored on his PDA under an encrypted program called Secure It, the outdated version of iSecur.

My mother figured out the password to the program yesterday. She was able to get in, read some information and then the Palm went to sleep like normal. But when powered on and opened again, there was nothing stored.

It looks like the files are still on the SD card, but I am not certain they are the correct ones for the program. Also, it only shows a profile for my mom on the home computer, so it seems he synced at work. I might be able to restore it from the work computer, but I don't know yet. The files are stored as palm database files.

I need this information decrypted asap so we can figure out finances.

Thanks for your help!

Sorry to hear about your father passing away.

Regarding his PDA financial data, I would suggest looking on his desktop computer, if he had one. There is a good chance he synced his Palm data with a desktop computer. Do you have any idea which financial programs he used on his PDA? If he used the default Expense app on the Palm, by default, the data goes to Microsoft Excel when producing expense reports.

There are some finance programs which sync with Microsoft Money, Quicken, or Quick Books. You could look on the desktop computer and see what financial programs are installed and then go into them to view the data.

I don't know much about cracking files. However, the program developer of the security program may be able to help if you contact them and explain your circumstances. Hope this helps.

Just to let any viewers know: I have returned from vacation and I am currently working with Mark in resolving this issue. I hope to be able to assist him so that this issue will be resolved.
