data plan

I am on Canada and I have a Unlimited Data plan for $50.
However keep in mind that is in Canadian dollars and our carrier here supports HSDPA.
Or so they say, I have never hit anything close to 1Mbps.
 
Cingular grandfathered MEdiaWorks, $20 unlimited data, 1500 sms and 200 mms.

S60 doesn't necessarily mean you have to have unlimited data, but it's MUCH more enjoyable if you do.
 
2.99!!? wow is that the current 5.99 plan? i thought u cant really use nething but wap with it, as they blocked the ports, in general how much data do you guys use in a month?
symella would be great, and html browsing on the n80 so i can lok at reviews of the products i look at at the store
 
With some heavy streaming, I can easily get up into the few hundred megs of data a month. When I was riding the train to work, I was streaming from my laptop tethered to my n80 every morning, an hour there, and every afternoon, an hour back... plus other streaming at work and stuff, was getting damn near close to 400 - 500mb a month (if I remember correctly).

That's for sure. You can run up megabytes pretty fast on these devices. Cingular's best current offering, at least with respect to data, appears to be its $19.99 MEdia Max 200 Bundle Unlimited: "Cingular Video & MEdia Net. Plus 200 Text, Video, Picture, Instant Messages (5cents/add'l)." I assume this means unlimited web (not just wap) browsing and e-mail data. It's available for the 3G Moto V3xx, and I'm hoping it will also apply to the N75.
 
With Tmo USA, I used to swear by the unlimited tzones (5.99), but about a month ago, they started blocking ports again. Basic web surfing is still perfect on this plan, butit does limit all downloads (podcasts, videos, mp3s, whatever) to under 1mb in size for download. So, it was frustrating when i would want something over that limit.
Further, once they started blocking ports again recently, they also screwed me with regards to Symella and Symtorrent. Both of those are awesome, and that really pissed me off.
Further still, I recently got into IRC, and that port was also blocked.
So, I finally bit the bullet and signed up for the BlackBerry Connnect plan. There are no ports blocked (except streaming media apparently), no file size restrictions, and all my favorite apps now work again.
It is a 19.99 plan, and is similar in most respects to Tmobile Unlimited Internet plan that runs 29.99. The difference being that on the BB connect plan, you have no free access to Tmo's hotspots.
I personnally didnt want those anyways, and not for 10$ extra a month especiallly, so this plan works perfectly for me.
I am typing all of this now, through operamini, with my bluetooth keyboard, while pretending to take notes in class.
So, that's my take, try the BB*connect plan for 19.99 if you want Symella, Symtorrent, Agile Messenger, IRC. If you only want web browsing (and it is full html, not only wap), go for the signifigantly cheaper unlimited Tzones for 5.99.

P.S. Laptop tethering works perfectly with the BB*connect option, whereas with Tzones you have to deal with proxies and the like to browse in IE or Firefox. Also, all apps work on the laptop with BB (i.e. Utorrent, mIrc, etc) with BB connect, and I couldnt get them to work with Tzones plan. Ok, thats really it. -Phono
 
I'm thinking of moving over to TMo from Cingular, but only if the $5.99 plan is possible. Glad to hear I can still use the full HTML browser in my N73. Do you think I'd still be able to upload images via Shozu if they're under 1MB?
 
Yup its the current $5.99 plan. When I signed up for it, it was only for 1mb of transfer and 500 texts. When I added on unlimited text to my plan they just changed it to unlimited transfer. I haven't had any issues with them blocking ports on my N93, but definitely ran into it with my WM5 devices.
 
Hey Phono, I just switched off the BB connect plan to the full Total Internet (I found myself using Hotspots more and more), but just to let you know, the only port blocked is actually the RTSP port (for Real Audio/Video streams)... you can stream everything else just fine.

You've probably discovered that already, but you can stream Shoutcast, for example, with no issues.

oh wow thats nice hmm so 20 bux for unlimited net, on top of my dsl home line. that gets pretty expensive for internet but to each his own. i'll get that haha when i get an n95 hahaa ok, wow i really want that phone only thing its missing is US 3g
 
95%: I sure do. Well, depends on what you mean by heavy-duty writing though I guess. I'm not writing a novel on it or anything, but... Im not writing a novel anywhere, so...

Things I do use (have used) the BTkeyboard for:
-All notes at school. Its a thing of beauty and the reason for the keyboard purchase. Everybody else has their laptops, and all of them are battling for the 4 outlets in the classes. I just bust out the keyboard and get right to it. Cant tell you how well suited the phone+keyboard is for taking notes.
-I've written a couple of papers on the phone. The coolest experience was sitting at my favorite bar, and churning out a 10plus page paper (I'm an english major). Also, many times, I've found last minute errors before class, within my papers, that I've been able to edit, email, and print at school. Thats nice.
-Hofo/MR/SF posting (though not very regularly as you can see from my post count
-IRC. Its fantastic there for obvious reasons
-Emails and the like

It's hands down the best thing I've ever bought for my smartphone. Love it.
 
heybige: I'm not sure about that one. I don't see any reason why you couldnt. However, I cant offer any first hand experience with that one as I never tried it.

I've recently started uploading via shozu, but the need for it never appeared before I started getting on IRC, and I never used IRC before I had the BBconnect plan (about 2 weeks ago).

So, that's just one I really cant answer for you. Sorry.
