Data connection down, is it my device?

After returning home from vacation I pulled into the small town I live in and when I regained service the usualy EDGE was gone and I have GSM. This means I dont get any of my emails, MMS, or any other data. Has this ever happened to anyone? Do you think it's T-Mobile or is it my device? Any help would be great, this is driving me nuts.
Side info: Yesterday morning 350 miles away from here it worked great, When I lost my service due to being in the middle of nowhere it said MANUAL, where T-MOBILE should be instead of SEARCHING. I dont know if that matters, I just hadn't seen that before.

I have been with TMO since 2003. I got my Pearl about a week ago and it would not stay on any network for long. I had to continuously turn my radio off/on to get it to pick back up. I called customer service. Turns out it was because my SIM card was 4 years old. TMO claimes they have upgraded the SIM cards to work on thier new, faster network. I went to my local TMO store (Actual TMO store, not "authorized dealer") and they gave me a new SIM card for free. They instantly assigned my phone# and all of my contacts, etc. to the new card. It only took about 5 minutes and it seems to have fixed the problem! Customer service even told me that if my TMO store made me pay for a new SIM, I could call back and they would credit my account for the full purchase price!

I have been having the same issues for over a month with my BB and I'm using 8800/4.2.1.74. I've switched my sim card and I show EDGE and still not receiving emails most of the time. I'm constantly having to power my BB off and on throughout the day to receive emails. When I called to T-Mobile they sent me to BB data support earlier this week who stated that there's a global data outage and that's why I'm having the issues and they don't know when it'll be resolved. I called BB data support again yesterday and I was told that there's still a global data outage. The reps in the corporate store and customer care told me that when hotspot at home is released that I need to get that and that will help me. I've had T-Mobile for awhile now and left Cingular to come to T-Mobile. I think I should have stayed with Cingular which is now at&t.

Anyone else out there experiencing these issues with T-Mobile? I've noticed that my coworkers and neighbors have been having some reception issues as well with T-Mobile. I do know throughout the United States that stated they are having reception issues with T-Mobile as well. I was thinking it was something wrong with my phone.

I was having issues last weekend as well. Emails were intermittent, Internet wasn't working at all.

I called T-mo and spoke to one of their BB tech support people and we went through an hour and a half of troubleshooting my BB with no improvement. Later that day everything starting working again.

I think it's a T-Mo issue - not global, just localized outages.
