Dash versus BB

dash is windows mobile 5.0 or 6.0 and BB is well whichever OS you decide to run . Dash takes the 29.99 tmobile total internet and the bb taskes the 19.99 bb feature. The dash has a volume touchstrip that will make you pull out your hair and the 8700 has the wierd wheel that gets stuck if you don't take care of it. the Dash you can load music onto it pictures onto it videos onto it and it has a 1.3 MP camera, 8700 has no camera and trying to transfer files is like pulling teeth.

just my opinion but when all is said and done i would go with the BB every day of the week and twice on sunday.

the blackberry connect actually runs a completely different server type compared to the dash, mda, sda, or the new WING, those actually have to use i high class server because of the windows based software, it has a completely different outlook compared to the BlackBerry which only uses a high class WAP access basically. which is now called EDGE. But the Windows based is a EDGE that is compatable with the Windows based phones which takes a router of information which in turn costs more money to run.

BB connect is available for the Dash provided you are running Windows Mobile 6.0 and have the BB emulator (which I can't remember if it is available at the moment) installed.

Zo.

The dash is windows mobile. It can be a little tricky to adjust to with all the menus and submenus. It also has wifi

The blackberry devices esp the 8700. It runs on the rim os and if you have the 7100series then u are already use to the blackberry. ~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~

I've used both. I had the Dash with Windows 5.0 running BB connect and the BB8700 (currently using an 8800). BB Connect will work with both version of Windows Mobile although I believe that Windows Mobile 6 is the only that may be "approved" to run. I had to search the web for many a night before I found the version of BB Connect that would work on the DASH.

With all the above said it does work albeit with horrible battery life ( I would get less than 14 hours running BB Connect). You only need a BB plan (I have a BIS plan through TMobile) and enough time to figure out the correct proxy setup so that you have both regular access to the web and still have BB Connect running in the background. If you don't get the proxy setup right you don't get web or MMS access. You have to stop the BB service everytime you want to access the web.

Once it is setup it works as well as a Windows Mobile device does. The differences are actually negligable but the BB is less laggy and a whole lot simpler to use IMO. Download Opera Mini on to either device and the gripes about the BB browser become irrelevant. The only feature and I do mean only, I miss is wi-fi. Once the newer BB with wi-fi are released then there will be no real differences, once again this is my opinion. The real question will be what operating system you prefer.

For me Windows Mobile is no longer in the running. I'm battling an inner war between the BB OS and Symbian. I just can't keep my hands off my E62 or N95. I may just sell both and get an E65 as a weekend phone.
