I just finished watching Darker Than Black last night. It was pretty decent. Everything about the production was well done. This didn't come as a surprise since it was produced by Bones. The music was particularly good - it suited the scenes perfectly and was very original.
The one area that was lacking was the story. The story could have been much more in-depth since there seemed to be a good premise. Instead, it just came across as the same old x-men-esque story of mutants vs humans. This would have been fine if the story explained the history of the contractors in more detail. Don't get me wrong, the story isn't horrible, it just could have been better. Much of the anime is also episodic to some extent so I won't scrutinize the overarching story too much.
All in all, Darker Than Black was very entertaining. It lacked originality and depth, but made up for it in its production quality and overall enjoyment. It's definitely worth a watch.
