Dark Water - another US Jap Horror Remake

I thought the original Dark Water was pish poor (mostly because it went on too long else it could've been great), but now Jennifer Connoly is starring in the US remake of it.

Will America make their first remake of a Japanese film that betters the original?
 
Well I liked Gore Verbinskis Ring but I dont think that view is shared by many. However, Jenifer Connely rocks!
 
I thought Dark Water was excellent, very slow and atmospheric. There's quite a few Hollywood remakes of quality asian horror titles (eg another one being Ju-on) in the works. I'm not really looking forward to them though, The Ring turned out a lot better than I expected but I still prefer the less polished feel of the original.
