DARK KNIGHT ENDING DISCUSSION. *SPOILERS

Totally.

And another thing too I think is that we saw NONE of twoface in any of the trailers, so it took me even more by surprise. Even if we just saw a 2 second flash of him in a trailer the "wtf" value wouldn't have been as bad.

The Dark Knight was amazing! They managed to capture the genuine sociopathic qualities of the joker which burtons and even most of the comics failed to do. He's so bored and empty that he has to torture and play mind games with people for his own amusement. He desperately wants someone to "get" his jokes and who he is. Lucius was the only one smart enough to figure out that the joker doesn't really have a traditional motive for what he does.

Batman's altruistic self gives us hints into what kind of person he really is and why he does what he does. It's much deeper than simply vengeance or heroism. He feels responsible for people. He feels like he is God, but being God is quite the burden. When people turned on him, he embraced it because what else could he do?

Harvey Dent's transformation was quite chilling as well. His coin flipping gimmick told us that somewhere inside was a sinister man just waiting to be let out of his shell. He's only done what he's been told to do in life. What he thought was the right thing to do. When that coin saved the joker he gave in to fate, for if it was on the joker's side, then he's been after the wrong guy.

10/10

i think nicholson's joker was excellent for tim burtons vision, where it was supposed to play out more as black comedy than drama.

as far as performances go, ledgers was clearly superior
