I tell the honest truth, I didn't know exactly who Damon Albarn was till I google him: so I voted Noel Gallagher for that reason even though he's the biggest jerk I've ever seen, but I like some of his music
I had to go with Noel. Oasis is one of my all time favorites, even though they kind of fell off the radar here in the states.
While I know Blur and the Gorillaz and like the music, I had to google Albarn, I had no idea who he was. Maybe because I'm in America and I have never made a huge point to really get into Blur or the Gorillaz. :shycouch:
I love Oasis, and pretty much everything they have done to Dig Out Your Soul. Even though I like it, doesn't make their music good. But many can't deny Noel's Song writing ability is great. Some of the lyrics are wow.
Damon Albarn, boys who like girls, who like boys who like.. oh fuck off. I liked a few Blur songs though. - Charming Man, No Distance Left To Run, Tender etc.
i wouldnt call him amazing, i respect him for making gorillaz the success they've become but i always preferred Coxon in blur and its quite telling that when he left, the band went down the sh!itter.
I would say noel gallagher as a person as he is far more genuine, Funny & generally has a better personality.
I love them both musically - however Noel Gallagher simply changed the face of pop music in the 90's & made guitar banRAB big again... Love him or hate him he has written some of the best songs of all time & has had moments of genius which i don't think Damon has although he is an amazing artist & very versatile with his music... Noel's top 5 songs Vs Damon's is no contest in my opinion....
well put rainard! the good the bad and the queen write good songs but something is missing. lacks heart. never quite takes you where it wants to. falls short every time. but blur and gorillaz are great. every album differing from the last.
i can't even believe that this is a topic/question. damon albarn is artistically superior to noel. oasis is a band that never attempts new ideas, it's the same thing and has been for their entire career. at least with albarn their is a sense of development and growth.
People like you really shouldn't be allowed to vote... or procreate for that matter.
Anyways I went with Damon Albarn because he did one of my favourite soundtracks of all time, "Ravenous". Some seriously dark banjo pluckin' going on there, one of the reasons I've wanted to pick up a banjo.
Oasis have produced some cracking tunes but have become a bit predictable and boring. Damon Albarn draws inspiration from different genres of music and each album he has released(colaborative or solo) has been original and challenging.
